Dateline on 3 page folded letter to Oswego, N.Y., entered the U.S. mails with blue "Baltimore, Md., Feb 28" cds, matching straight line "Ship" and "12" rate handstamps, letter sent by Joel Turrill, American Consul in Hawaii and tells of the dispatch of a first bill of exchange…sent by the Montreal via China on the 25 of May., letter mentions this letter being sent…The "Modeste" sails tomorrow for Valparaiso via Tahiti & we send this letter by her and there the postage will be paid to the U.S. via Panama. I suppose it will reach you in about 4 months, unfortunately the letter was in transit for 8 months; few light tone spots, otherwise Very Fine, a remarkable transit from Honolulu.Estimate $2,000 - 3,000.
