Orford-Ville, N.H. Bold sharp strike of arched town postmark with manuscript date below, on fresh 1843 folded letter to Bradford, Vt., manuscript "6" rate, an Extremely Fine gem, a superb example of this very scarce townmark.

Orford-Ville, N.H./Sept. 27. Red fancy arched postmark with manuscript date forwarding on ladies cover readdressed to Berlin, blue "Lyme, N.H., Sep 21" origin cds and "V" rate handstamp, manuscript Fow'd with red "5" and totalling "10" below, Very Fine and choice, a very scarce fancy postmark which is normally found in blue.

(Plaistow 26th Apr 1797). Dateline on folded letter Newburyport, Mass., manuscript "pr Haverhill Boatman" at lower left, letter indicates letter carried with supplies, various manuscript notations indicative of ratings probably including cargo; staining at bottom, Fine.
Estimate    $150 - 200.

Haverhill, Mass. is about 3 miles south of Plaistow and is located on the Merrimack River by which this was transported to Newburyport.
