Lyons, red "New Bedford, Mass., Mar 16" cds and matching straight line "Ship" handstamp, manuscript 20¾ rate (18¾¢ + 2¢ ship fee), letter with some interesting content regarding life in Hawaii; light edge wear and staining, F.-V.F.

Dateline on lengthy 3 page letter to Colrain, Mass., entered the U.S. mails with red "New London, Ct., Apr 2" cds, matching straight line "Ship" handstamp and manuscript "7" rate, letter with interesting content from Rev. Lorenzo Lyons regarding consumption and other diseases on the island…deaths from various diseases are quite numerous…of the 6,000 whom I have received in the church 2,000 have died, etc.; faint edge toning, Very Fine.
