Carrier, 1851 (1¢) Franklin, Double Transfer. Showing doubling in "Stamp" and stars in bottom label, mostly large margins to clear at bottom right, cancelled by neat red star carrier handstamp on cover to New York City, blue "Philadelphia, Pa., 5cts, Dec. 6" integral rate cds; cover with light central vertical file fold and rebacked small edge tears at top, Very Fine, a magnificent example of the 1851, 1¢ Franklin Carrier Double Transfer on cover from Philadelphia, Pa., a great rarity as this cover is one of only two examples of the double transfer variety on cover, ex Worthington, Caspary.

Only 18 on covers examples of the 1¢ Franklin carrier are known on cover from only three cities. One usage from New Orleans, La., three from New York City and 14 examples from Philadelphia, Pa.

Boston, Mass., 1849-50, 1¢ blue on slate. Left margin single, margins large to slightly in at bottom right, canceled by red crayon and tied by red "Boston, 3cts, Nov 10" cds on cover to Northfield, Mass., in combination with 1851, 3¢ orange brown, top margin single neatly tied by small "Paid" in grid handstamp; cover missing sideflap and 3¢ stamp with light corner crease in margin only, F.-V.F. and scarce, ex Seybold.

Charleston, S.C., Honour's City Express, 1849, 2¢ black on yellow. Cut to shape, manuscript canceled and affixed by red wafer seal with sealing impression "tying" stamp on fresh 1850 folded letter sheet to New York City, red "Charleston, S.C., 10, Jun 26" integral rate cds and matching straight line "Paid" handstamp; stamp with small tear, F.-V.F. and attractive, a lovely example of this great on cover rarity, with only four examples known of the 1849, 2¢ Honour's stamp on yellow paper of which only three are known on cover, ex Ferrary, Golden; with 1999 P.F. certificate.
