India, Reference Collection. Over 250 items on stock and album pages; includes Scinde & first issue forgery types, 1882 1r postal forgery, some later overprint forgeries including officials, selection of various Indian States forgeries including overprint forgeries and on cover creation.

Ionian Islands, (British) Reference Collection. 85 stamps arranged on album and stock pages; ½d issue with genuine with blue "Franca" in box cancel and six forgery types showing a variety of cancellations, similar 1d and 2d value forgeries as well as a small stock of Earee type 1 forgeries.

Lot 1905

Italian States, Reference Collection. Approximately 1,200 stamps mostly arranged on stockpages in two binders with much unidentified; includes a section of Modena issues with 1852 Eagle issues with some identified forgery types, similar 1859 issues and newspapers, Parma stock with genuine, reprint and later forgeries identified, Romagna selection with some moderate duplication, similar Sardinia including remainders, reprints and multiples, Tuscany with some better genuine and variety of forgery types including 1860 Spiro sheets; moderate duplication to be expected, a nice holding for the specialist.

Papal/Roman States, Reference Collection. Approximately 2,000 stamps on album and stock pages; good showing of the forgeries with 1852 issues including genuine reference to the 1sc rose, similar 1867-68 issues, strong section of the 1867-68 reprints including the so-called Usigli Essay sheets of the 1867 issue as well other Usigli reprint multiples, Moens reprints including many partial panes imperf and perf'd, Cohn including blocks, Gelli & Tani and large reconstructed multiples of the North Italy reprints, also a stock of genuine with nearly every issue represented including multiple examples of the 1852 high values used (condition varied), on cover with few genuine and a 4baj fake bisect usage.

Japan, Reference Collection. In excess of 1,300 stamps on album and stock pages in binders; main focus on the 1871 & 1872 Dragon issues with a study of forgery types including creations from Wada with various plates, Spiro Brothers including sheets, Kimigata, Hirose, Mihons, etc., with the vast array of imitation postmarks, Cherry Blossom issues with a similar study of Wada forgeries, Spiro, etc., other later early issues represented through the Koban issues, section of forgeries of the first airmail overprints, military overprints and offices aboard, section of early tourist sheets, some genuine material; an impressive accumulation.

Mauritius, Reference Collection. Approximately 140 items arrange on album and stock pages in binder, including many genuine items; 1848 issue with genuine including unused 1d worn impression, several used latest impressions and a used early impression 2d (various faults), facsimiles including several different Oneglia engraved, 1d & 2d large fillet Major Evans sheets of 12 (as well as several additional "used" singles), the facsimile proof sheet of 32 in orange and a single in blue, 1859 Lapirot 2d issue including 3 genuine examples and Oneglia creation, nice selection of later QV and Britannia issue creations including Spiro and others, Winter forgeries, etc.; some duplication.

Lot 1909

Mexico, Imperial Eagle Forgeries, 1864-66. Counterfeits of the 1864-1866 Eagles are not often encountered. This mounted holding is likely from the John Bash or Leo Corbett reference collection, 23 stamps filled with notations from a respected Mexico expert of days gone by, interesting items. (Not part of the Kane Collection) (no photo).

North Borneo, Reference Collection. Hundreds of stamps on album and stock pages in binder; with a selection of 1883-86 first issue forgeries, perf'd & imperf, surcharge fakes, etc., similar section of 1887-92 Coat of Arms issue, other higher denomination items including 1892, 8¢ on 25¢ surcharge fakes, 1894, 25¢ double impression and a section of Fournier creations including proof material, some stock and genuine on pages.
