1851, 1¢ blue, type II, horizontal pair. Positions 33-34L2, position 33L2 showing no cracked plate flaw, in combination with 1851, 3¢ dull red tied by "New Orleans, La., Apr 2" cds's on folded letter to Paris, France, bold red "New York, Br. Pkt., Apr 16" and Calais entry postmark, "26" decimes due handstamp and reverse with transit and receiving postmark, Very Fine and choice, a wonderful usage; signed Ashbrook.

Margins clear to in at upper left, in combination with 1851, 2¢ dull red, all tied by neat grid handstamps on folded letter sheet to Nantes, France, red "New York, Br, Pkt., Nov 26" exchange cds and French transit cds additionally tying 3¢, "13" decimes due handstamp, transit and receiving backstamps, Very Fine and attractive.

In combination with 1851, 3¢ dull red on underpaid 1857 double French mail rate cover to Spezzia, Italy, tied by "Terre Haute, Ind., May 4" cds's, sent by American packet with "New York, 18, May 9" integral rate exchange cds, red French transit cds and manuscript "24" decimes due, reverse with Genoa transit and receiving cds's, Very Fine, an unusual and rare usage.

Margins large to just in at top and bottom, tied by "New Orleans, La., Jun 11" balloon cds paying the 2¢ open printed circular rate on folded sheet to Liverpool, England, with bold "Liverpool, Jy 6, 1856" rimless cds and matching "2" rate handstamp, Very Fine, a very scarce usage.
