Jayne & Son, 4¢ Orange, Die Cut, Old Paper, strong bright color, nicely centered amid die cut, light vertical crease ending in mended tears, Extremely Fine appearance, an attractive example of the Jayne & Son 4¢ Orange Die Cut Variety on Old Paper, a great Match & Medicine issue rarity with only 3 examples recorded in orange by Aldrich in the census, this in all probability is the only known example in die cut format, an unlisted major variety in Scott; with 2012 P.F. certificate.Scott No. RS146Ga var. The Joyce collection included one example of this stamp in imperforate format, which realized $7,000 hammer. It is interesting to note that both the red and orange color varieties of the Jayne & Son 4¢ issues on old paper, offered here, have a green offset on reverse in the shade that is similar to the green used on all other Jayne & Son 4¢ issues.
