Mexico, 1895, 5p Scarlet, horizontal strip of 4 (natural s.e. at right), o.g., never hinged, bright vivid color, bright and fresh, Very Fine, a very scarce never hinged multiple, only 3,200 5 peso stamps were issued in all watermarks; with 1999 MEPSI certificate, signed Bash.

Mexico, 1898, 10c Lilac Rose, Horizontal Pair, on 1900 cover to Hamburg, Germany, tied by light "Vapor Correo, San Benito, F.C.O.M." circular handstamp with second strike at bottom center of cover, reverse with Guaymas transit, receiving postmark and Mazatlan corner card on backflap, F.-V.F., a rare Pacific Coast Maritime Mail usage.
Scott No. 284    Estimate $500 - 750.

The Ferrocarril Occidentale Mexicano used the steamer "San Benito" to connect Mazatlan with Guaymas, the terminal of the railroad.

Mexico, 1898, 20c Lilac Rose, tied by "Cuicatlan, 27.Abr.99" cds on green all over shaded Juzcado de Pimera Instancia del Distrito de Cuicatlan certified official cover to Oaxaca, manuscript certification at top left and reverse with partial Oaxaca official cachet and receiving postmark; cover with small nick and vertical fold affecting stamp, Very Fine appearance.
