1879, 3¢ War Dept., some small perf flaws, cancelled by negative "H" cork on 3c War (UO20) entire with matching cancel and "Hanover N.H. Feb 6 1889" cds, preprinted Chief Signal Officer return address to Washington D.C.; file fold at left, clean and Very Fine., clean and Very Fine.

Although Official stamps and stationery were discontinued on July 1, 1884; there are several War uses known after this date. This is one of the latest recorded usages.

1879, 3¢ & 6¢ War Dept., different shades, cancelled by grids duplexed with "Vancouver Wash. Sep 22 1883" cds on Medical Dept. cover to Surgeon General at Washington D.C., purple Surgeon General's U.S. Army receiver at right; large vertical opening tear at left ans some edge wear, a Fine triple rate use, Vancouver W.T. was the post office for Vancouver Barracks, headquarters of the Dept. of the Columbia., ex-Lobdell.
