Freeman & Co.'s Express, group of 4 items; includes green scroll frank entire (FRM-004) and uprated "Atlantic States and European Express" box frank entire (FRM-006), both to New York, unused embossed corner card cover (FRM-403) and similar used money entire with "San Francisco, Cal." in center (Thomas unlisted) to Cambridge, Mass.; condition varies, F.-V.F. overall.

Only two examples of this handstamp are recorded on this type frank with three other examples in conjunction with the FRM-001 frank.

Freeman & Co., Marysville, Oct 15, strong full strike of blue oval date stamp (FRM-103) tying well centered 1857, 3¢ dull red on banker's corner card cover to San Francisco, 1859 docketing at left, Very Fine, a choice favor carried bank cover.
Scott No. 26    Estimate $150 - 200.

Expresses would carry letters (non-franked envelopes) for banks and newspapers as favors. Postage had to applied by sender. Usages other than by Wells Fargo & Co. are scarce to rare.
