(Iowa) Keokuk, I.T., July 10, bold strike of circular postmark with manuscript dating and matching "Paid 20" cent rating on 1846 folded letter to Rev. Milton Badger of the Executive Committee of the Missionary Board in New York City, a lengthy five-page letter concerning the current missionary Rev. Daniel Jones stationed at Keokuk I. T., who they feel is not a man suited to the character of their people or the circumstances of the place, letter is signed by many members of the congregation, Very Fine.
Estimate    $750 - 1,000.

A RARE IOWA TERRITORY USE WITH THE FANCY RED KEOKUK POSTMARK.

The Keokuk cds with town name in arc is known used only in 1846 in two colors: red from about Jan. 17th to Aug. 12th 1846, and then in black Mar. 25th to May 15th 1846.
