Express, New York, Dec. 11, blue cds on 1861 10¢ green entire to San Francisco, black printed frank (WFE-042) at top left and blue "Jan 5" receiving date stamp, Very Fine, three example of this East Coast frank are recorded all on ten cent rated envelopes used from New York in late 1859 through early 1860, of the three recorded this is the finest known example.

Express, New York, Feb. 21, blue double double circle date stamp on 1864, 3¢ pink entire to San Francisco, black printed frank (WFE-042a) at top left; small opening edge tears at top and in backflap, F.-V.F., with only two examples of this frank type have been recorded the other found on an unused envelope, used after the three cent rate went into effect most likely 1864.
