(Calaveras) San Andreas, Cal., Oct 17, first type cds (CAL-2430) on ca. 1856 cover to Pennsylvania, matching straight line "Paid 10" rate handstamp; small repaired edge nick at lower right, Very Fine, believed to be the earliest known usage of this postmark.

(Calaveras) San Andreas, Sep. 4, straight line postmark (CAL-2420, R5) with manuscript date on fresh 1853, 3¢ Nesbitt entire to Yuba City, Cal., somewhat light but all letters readable, strike in a new variant on William CAL-2420 without the month printed; small stain at left edge, Very Fine, one of the rarest California straight line postmarks.

(Colusa) Coast Range, Cal., Sept 5th, manuscript postmark (Williams unlisted) on ca. 1873 cover to Massachusetts, franked with manuscript canceled 3¢ Bank Note, Very Fine, with only three covers known from this town, this being the only manuscript cancel known.

(Colusa) Tehama (Cal), April 13, manuscript postmark (COL-1890, R5) on 1853 folded letter to Rocheport, Mo., with "Paid 6" rating, forwarded to New Orleans, La. initial rating crossed out and "forwd 5" added; light stain at bottom, F.-V.F., the earliest Tehama postmark and the only known during the Colusa county period.
