1895, $1 black, type I, D.L. watermark, well centered, tied by target handstamp on locally addressed cover, matching "Virginia, Cal., Feb 6, 1900" cds target cancel on a clean and attractive 1900 local cover, Very Fine, a very rare on cover usage; with 1994 P.S.E. certificate (which states it is "philatelic").

1901, Pan-Americans complete on First Day cover front, tied by light registry ovals with purple "Sub-Sta. No. 37, Wash. D.C., Registered, May 1, 1901" double-circle datestamp on an apparent cover to Munich, Germany; New York registry label (No. 19449); central vertical file fold and back of envelope skillfully added (hence no German receiver or other transit markings), lovely Extremely Fine appearance, a handsome example of a very rare First Day Cover.
Scott No. 294-299    $30,000 for full cover.

There are now a total of eight similar used from Washington D.C. having the same stamp configuration with New York registry exchange label numbers in the range (19447, 19449, 19452, 19457, 19458, 19465, 19468, 19474), including six to Germany, one to Finland and one to Switzerland.

1901, Pan-Americans complete, Used in Samoa to Fiji, the complete set tied by Pago-Pago cds's, Dec 11, 1901, on a registered cover to Suva, Fiji; backstamped Apia, Samoa on Dec 20; 4¢, 8¢ & 10¢ each with straight edge on one side, cover with a vertical file fold at left end, not affecting stamps, Very Fine and rare. Quite possibly unique!

1901, 1¢ Pan-American, trivial corner crease, tied by "Buffalo, N.Y., Jun 01" machine exposition cancel (date slug removed) on oversized multicolored illustrated Wagner Typewriter Co. exposition cover showing a wonderful lithographed View of Niagara Falls, addressed (by typewriter) to Aurora, Ill., minor cover soiling and small puncture at right side of cover, otherwise Very Fine, considered to be one of the most spectacular Exposition covers ever produced.
