Confederacy, Point Lookout, Md., prisoner cover with "Via Fortress Monroe & Flag of Truce boat" endorsement at top left, to Greenwod Depot, Va., franked with target canceled U.S. 1861, 3¢ rose with matching "Point Lookout, Md., Jan 23" cds at center, large margin 1863-64, 10¢ blue tied by partial Richmond, Va. cds., large oval "Approved, J.A. Patterson, Capt. & P. Marshall, Point Lookout, Md." censor handstamp; 3¢ stamp with some perf toning and light cover tone spots, F.-V.F.

Confederacy, Rock Island, Ill., prisoner letter to Nashville, Tenn., U.S. 1861, 3¢ entire postmarked "Rock Island, Ill., Jan 16, 65" cds and target duplex, blue examiner's oval handstamp at left, with original enclosure datelined "Rock Island Prison Ill., Barrack No. 9, January 15th, 1865", interesting content regarding the Trans Miss troops and others war matters which was not allowed in prisoner's letters: some cover staining and edge wear, also additional cover from correspondence from Old Point Comfort, Va. with "Flag of Truce" notation, Fine.

Confederacy, Sandusky, O., prisoner cover to Richmond, Va. with "Flag of Truce Boat via Fortress Monroe" endorsement at left, franked with U.S. 1861, 3¢ rose which the "U.S." portions of design have been skillfully painted over in cross-hatch design with gray, white and black paint, tied by grid with matching "Sandusky, O., Nov 7" cds and "Ex P.H.H." examiner's initials alongside, "Richmond, Va., Nov 21" receiving cds with matching "Due 2" and oval "Held For Postage" handstamps, Extremely Fine, a wonderful and choice prisoner cover.
