Blue oval handstamp (Leutzinger type 11-8 with dots like type 11-10) on 1860 3¢ Star Die entire without frank as addressed paste-up portion (paper remnants on the back) to San Francisco, "International Hotel" manuscript notation appended to the address for delivery, Extremely Fine and choice.

(Wells Fargo & Co.) Rapid City. Purple straight line handstamp on Wells Fargo & Co. Express black on orange label (with "9½") on legal size cover with "Clerk Of District Court, Pennington County" Rapid City, Dakota (Territory, now South Dakota), printed corner card, to Pueblo, Colorado, docketing refers to depositions that were once enclosed and indicates that the package was delivered "C.O.D. $3.50", embossed orange document seal on the back, slightly reduced at left and right, edge wear at left and toning, Fine.

Roach/Dealers in Wines and Liquors, San Francisco", ad shows Roach Building & Street Scene, hint of soiling & tiny tear at top, Very Fine and attractive, a stunning ad cover one of only a few cover with the franked on the reverse, ex-Salzer.

Pillsbury Hodgkins, nicknamed "Chips", was a celebrated Express character of early gold rush mining days, who served with Wells Fargo & Company.
