Confederacy, 1863, 10¢ blue, die I, two bottom corner Keating & Ball imprint and plate no. blocks of 12 (one each from plates 1 & 2), both with full margins, plate 1 no gum, minor toning, light creasing & small colored-in scrape; plate 2, which shows a large plate crack in the bottom margin, is o.g., few tone spots, otherwise Very Fine.

Confederacy, 1863, 10¢ light blue, die I, bottom margin plate block of 14 with plate "No. 2" only, o.g., never hinged, large margins, light vertical crease between 4th & 5th column, small gum tone spot barely shows through, otherwise fresh and Very Fine.

Lot 1927    

Confederacy, 1863, 10¢ blue, die I, tied by Richmond, Va./Mar. 19, 1863 cds on overpaid drop letter to Col. H.C. Cahill, then forwarded to "Cabell's Battalion, near Port Walthall Junction" with pair of 5¢ local print (7) tied by Richmond cds the next day, Very Fine and unusual, a lovely combination.

Confederacy, 1863, 10¢ blue, die I, bottom margin single with plate "No. 1", uncancelled on locally addressed cover with partial Augusta, Geo. cds; cover with wrinkles and vertical crease through stamp due to the legal documents originally enclosed (not present), otherwise a Very Fine and scarce; additionally, plate no. singles are quite rare on cover.
