THE UNIQUE AND NEWLY DISCOVERED EXAMPLE OF THIS 1900 ULUPALAKUA MAUI TOWN POSTMARK.

According to Fred Gregory's "Post Office in Paradise" website, There are only four examples of a Ulupalakua postmark recorded. One being the unique manuscript postmark (801) and three examples of the 30mm double lined outer and single lined inner circle date stamp (281.011) with another example of this postmark (EKU) being offered by us just last year.

Hawaii, (Oahu) Hoaeae, bold violet handstamp on 5¢ rose lake (76); light creasing, F.-V.F. and scarce.
Gregory No. 604    Estimate $150 - 200.

This name is given to a land section in the vicinity of Ewa, above Pearl Lagoon near where Waipahu was situated. It is shown on an 1881 government map. This land became part of the Oahu Sugar Co. when it was formed in 1897.

Phelps, Davenport Iowa bearing U.S. 3¢ rose (65) and 5¢ brown (76), stamps uncancelled at Honolulu and each tied by San Francisco cogwheel fancy cancels, stamps uncancelled at Honolulu, "Muscatine Ioa., Aug 8 '64" transit cds and manuscript "Missent & For'd", stamps additionally tied by Muscatine targets, carried on the Onward that departed Honolulu Jun. 18th to San Francisco arriving Jul. 9th; edge faults including small pieces out and small tears, otherwise Fine, Fine and scarce use prepaid at double the 3¢ letter rate plus 2¢ ship fee, ex-Golden.
