San Francisco, Cal. (San Francisco) "Ship 6". Lot of seven incoming folded cover to San Francisco all with scarce "Ship 6" Clamshell handstamp, one is in red (very scarce), one is from New South Wales & is franked with 6d Imperf. (creased), three are from Chile in the early 1850's, one is from France in 1850, one is from Scotland in 1854, etc.

Small lot of four stampless covers including red clamshell "Ship 6" with matching San Francisco cds (part cover only), 1863 cover to Virginia with "Ship 6" & San Francisco double circle postmark, two 1864 cover with San Francisco double circle postmark, one with "Due 6" & one with "Due 4" handstamp, F.-V.F.

San Francisco, Cal. (San Francisco) Transatlantic Covers to France. 1852-73 lot of nine stampless covers from San Francisco to France with numerous different rates & markings, included are four with 26¢ rates, mixed condition, F.-V.F., worth inspection.

Lot 97    

San Francisco, Cal., Apr 17 (San Francisco). Red cds with matching "2" drop rate handstamp on locally addressed cover, original enclosures with letter datelined "Papiete August 29th, 1850" regarding shipment of a box of oranges, also accompanied by the original bill of lading, Very Fine, a very rare incoming consignee letter from Papiete, Tahiti and dropped in the San Francisco mails.
Estimate    $2,000 - 3,000.

San Francisco, Cal., Oct. 13, 1864 (San Francisco). Perfect cds strike on Occidental Hotel corner card cover, franked with 1861, 3¢ rose (tear at top) tied by matching cog wheel handstamp, with original enclosure regarding greenback and gold drafts, a Superb strike.

Lot 100    

San Francisco, Cal./Oct 1 (San Francisco). Bold cds on buff cover to New Hampshire with matching "10" rate handstamp, included is fascinating letter datelined "On Board Ship Victory, April 12th, 1852" during the voyage around the "Horn", the letter is very descriptive & eloquently written talking of the voyage, rounding Cape Horn, the sight of Tierra Del Fuego and in later concluded upon arrival on San Francisco in Sept., minor bit of cover aging, Very Fine, a wonderful letter that must be read to be fully appreciated.
