Württemberg, 1852, 18kr black on dull violet, type II, two singles + 9kr black on rose + 6kr black on yellow green. All tied by blue "Heilbronn, 22 Nov, 1852" cds's on cover front to Indianapolis, Indiana, matching "Pd" oval handstamp and red French transit, partial entry and "Boston, 5cts, Dec 15" cds and additional "5" credit handstamp, Very Fine, a very scarce 51kr double letter rate (9kr. "GAPU" + 42kr beyond the border). Scott No. 4-6.

In combination with 1862, 3kr orange yellow on cover to Clear Spring, Md., United States, all tied by "Tübingen, 28 Oct, 1862" origin cds's, 6kr inland rate with "wf 16" in red manuscript for beyond the border, red Hamburg transit cds and "N. York Hamb. Pkt., Paid, Nov 20" entry cds with matching "10" rate handstamp; some minor cover edge wear slightly affecting 1k perfs at left, otherwise Very Fine; with 1997 Heinrich certificate.
